We went over to my parent's house Sat. evening and enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner! I've been craving fried chicken for a week or two now, so that it was I requested. And all, except the gravy, was salt-free. Well, I take that back I did add our secret ingredient to the mashed potatoes, but it wasn't a lot and didn't have a lot of sodium in it considering the amount of mashed potatoes we had. At my request, this is what was served:
- Fried Chicken
- Homemade Gravy (from chicken drippings)
- Mashed Potatoes
- Green Beans
- Choc. Pie
Also, in addition, broccoli & cheese rolls were served. Oh! My! Word! Everything was completely delicious and so satisfying! It really hit the spot! :) Afterwards, we just sat around talking & I opened my gift from my parents. (A nice set of PJ's that I can wear in the hospital, once the baby is born.) Once our food had time to settle, I picked out a game to play: Scrabble! Normally this is Mom's choice to play, but I was thinking I needed to brush up my skills. I would have won that game, but I actually helped Hubs go out and he beat me by a few points. I came in second. Can't believe we beat the queen of Scrabble! (Course, towards the end, they were helping me cheat a little so I don't guess it really counts. lol. I ended up with all the hard letters x, y, z, q, j, etc. So Mom & Dad were looking up words that I might be able to use. lol) I spelled more words with Hubs' letters than I did with my own. (He let me see them towards the end.) We usually play by the rules, but near the end of the game, I was feeling pretty tired and was on a laughing spree. It was quite a bit of fun. I said some things at the oddest moments and it came out funny. From there we laughed the rest of the night. :) Good times. Love my family. :)
Well, I had better run! I have to get ready for a photo shoot this morning and judging by the clock, I need to rush and get ready.
Happy Monday!
***Later today, around 2:58pm, I post:
Good thing I looked at my messages before hopping in the shower. My morning appointment got cancelled. I pretty much just relaxed and ended up back in the bed with my swollen feet propped up. It's been a pretty lazy day. I'm really tired. But despite that, I just put some chicken and rice in the oven. I asked Hubs, "Since you're sick today, what would you like for supper?" His reply, "Chicken soup & grilled cheese." Poor Honey Bear is coming down with a cold. He has been such a hard worker lately, it's no wonder his body is telling him to rest and take a break. I love that man! He worked so hard to get the nursery completely painted this weekend. He also put up my "new" white chandelier, which gives the ceiling a whole new look. We just have minor details to finish. (Like putting in the new electrical plug-ins & duplex plates.) At any rate, I decided to make my own version of a homemade chicken & rice soup. I was rather disappointed to find the carrots in my frig going bad, but we will add something else to give our soup a splash of color. Hope tonight's supper & some rest perk my Honey Bear back up.
I also found an email in my box that said our new jogger stroller and car-seat have been shipped! Yea! Cannot wait for them to arrive sometime this week! :)
Not long before I got up to put supper in the over, Baby Girl was kicking quite a bit. I told her I got the point. I'd get up and rock her back to sleep. lol. And she has been content ever since. I love to feel her move though. Sometimes she surprises me with these joyful kicks, I just can't keep from smiling. Loving her more and more each day. I'm told that if I think I love her now, just wait until I see her and hold her for the first time. I really can't imagine. My love for her already seems so beautiful, I can't imagine what it must feel like if it will be multiplied by 100 (or even just 10). *sigh* I really am loving this precious gift God has granted me. And loving the fact that He chose me to be a mother.
